The Family Medicine team is uniquely trained to care for patients as a whole person, regardless of age or sex. The cornerstone of Family Medicine is an ongoing, personal relationship between caregivers and patients to achieve the best possible health outcomes. Caregivers and patients work together to achieve the best possible health outcomes. Â
A caregiver in this position works 7:00am – 6:00pm. Â
A caregiver who excels in this role will:Â Â

Assist with performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance, identifying medication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performing tests and documenting patient care. Â

Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition. Â

Maintain equipment, medical supplies and examination areas. Â

Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration. Â

Collaborate with nursing leadership for department initiatives and outcomes, promote engagement, and assist with team building initiatives and onboarding of new medical assistants and ambulatory clinical technicians.Â

Assist with communication and implementation of best practices within the clinical area.Â

Provide feedback to the Nurse Manager/designee on medical assistants and ambulatory clinical technicians for new hire, mid- year and annual reviews.Â

Coordinate activities including holding huddles, department meetings and day to day staffing coverage for medical assistants and ambulatory clinical technicians.Â

Participate in clinical and departmental meetings and ensure information sharing with other team members.Â

Collaborate with nursing and physician leadership for issues involving clinical decision making.Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â Â

Graduate from an accredited medical assisting program OR military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1).Â

Three years of recent clinical experience as a Medical Assistant. Â

Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience.Â

Current demonstrated clinical competency. Â Â
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).Â
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â

Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.Â
- May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.Â
- Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
- Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
- Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
