Cleveland Clinic Florida is seeking an accomplished, visionary, and collaborative Division Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery to lead and advance one of the nation’s premier regional cardiothoracic surgery programs that annually performs more than 1,000 cardiothoracic operations at three hospitals in our Florida Market.
This physician leader will provide strategic direction for cardiothoracic surgery across the Cleveland Clinic Florida Market, overseeing clinical excellence, physician leadership, academic growth, quality, innovation, and program development while maintaining an active clinical practice. The successful candidate will also serve as Site Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital, our flagship quaternary care campus.
This position reports to the Enterprise Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute (HVTI) with a dotted line to the Vice Chief of the Heart Vascular and Thoracic Institute, Florida Market.
This is a rare opportunity to lead and grow an established, high-performing cardiothoracic surgery program within one of the world’s most respected healthcare organizations. The Division Chair will have the resources, multidisciplinary partnerships, and institutional support to shape the future of cardiovascular surgical care across a rapidly growing region while influencing clinical innovation, physician development, research, and education.
Leadership Opportunity
The Division Chair will:
- Establish the strategic vision and direction for Cardiothoracic Surgery across Cleveland Clinic Florida.
- Lead a highly integrated regional program focused on exceptional clinical outcomes, innovation, patient experience, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop outstanding surgical faculty while fostering physician engagement and succession planning.
- Partner with Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute leadership and hospital executives to expand access to advanced cardiothoracic surgical care throughout South Florida.
- Lead the continued growth of complex cardiac and thoracic surgery programs, including structural heart collaboration, advanced heart failure therapies, mechanical circulatory support, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, thoracic oncology, and future program development throughout the region.
- Champion quality, patient safety, operational excellence, and value-based care initiatives across the division.
- Advance Cleveland Clinic’s academic mission through clinical research, education, innovation, and faculty development.
- Build collaborative relationships across cardiology, vascular surgery, cardiac anesthesia, critical care, pulmonology, oncology, imaging, and advanced practice providers.
- Maintain an active clinical practice with a balanced administrative and surgical schedule.
As Site Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Weston Hospital, the Division Chair will provide physician leadership for the campus-based surgical program while partnering with hospital leadership to support quality initiatives, operational excellence, physician engagement, and continued program growth.

The Division Chair will be based at Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital, a 258-bed quaternary referral center and the flagship campus of Cleveland Clinic Florida. Weston provides highly specialized care across numerous institutes and is nationally recognized for its complex cardiovascular, transplant, neurosciences, digestive disease, orthopaedic, and cancer programs.
The Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute is among the region’s leading cardiovascular programs, offering comprehensive cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, structural heart, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, and cardiovascular imaging through a highly collaborative multidisciplinary model. As Cleveland Clinic Florida continues to expand throughout Southeast Florida, including future growth in Palm Beach County, the Division Chair will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of cardiothoracic surgical care across the region.
Candidate Qualifications
- Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Eligible for unrestricted Florida medical licensure.
- Demonstrated record of excellence in complex cardiothoracic surgery.
- Progressive physician leadership experience within an academic medical center or integrated health system.
- Accomplishments in clinical research, education, faculty development, and program building are highly desirable.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, inspire collaboration, and drive organizational growth.
