The laboratory team at Martin South Hospital is a small, cohesive team that works collaboratively to achieve excellence and offers extensive training and on-site and continuing education.
A caregiver in this position works nights, 8:30PM – 5:00AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform various laboratory procedures.
-
Assist with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, transporting and storing specimens.

Operate laboratory equipment and perform routine instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repairs.

Perform quality assurance activities.
-
Maintain adequate stock of supplies and manage the inventory by transporting and distributing supplies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High school diploma or GED.

Completion of three months of on-the-job training to learn department laboratory procedures, instrumentation and Cleveland Clinic policies.

Physical Requirements:

Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity when handling specimens and utilizing instrumentation.

Ability to safely handle potentially infectious patient specimens, carcinogenic substances, odorous and other hazardous materials to which they may be exposed.

Requires frequent sitting or standing.
