Akron General’s 52B Orthopedic/Surgical Unit is a post-surgical unit that specializes in knee and hip replacements and shoulder, ankle and spinal surgeries. As an RN , you will be part of an inviting, welcoming and inclusive family of caregivers that is dedicated to forming long-lasting relationships while making a difference in the lives of patients. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will: Â
- Provide nursing care based on patient-centered outcomes and standards of care based on current research and evidence-based practice.Â
- Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions. Â
- Safely administer patient care and treatments in accordance with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice and institutional policy.Â
- Safely administer medications in accordance with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice and institutional policy Â
- Involve the patient and family (or designee) in developing a plan of care individualized to patient cultural, religious and educational needs.Â
- Participate in on-going interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes and contribute to the improvement of care. Â Â
Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Â
- Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
- Current Ohio licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Â
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:
- Full range of body motion for handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
- Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work

- Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures
