Akron General’s 7100 Unit is a high acuity cardiac Telemetry and Medical/Surgical Unit. This fast-paced team cares for patients who require extensive ADL assistance and complex medical attention. As Resident RN, you will find a welcoming and hands-on environment where caregivers encourage education, mutual support and teamwork. This unit will provide you with positive team interactions, preceptorship and opportunities for additional training, certification and career growth.   Â
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 7:30PM. Â
A caregiver who excels in this role will: Â
- Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs. Â
- Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach. Â
- Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability). Â
- Initiate and/or maintain interventions to assure continuity of safe/effective care for patients.Â
- Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk. Â
- Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently. Â
- Document in patients’ medical records. Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Â
- Graduate from an accredited school of Professional NursingÂ
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)Â
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)Â
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)Â

Physical Requirements:
- Full range of body motion for handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
- Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work

- Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures
