Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry and Complex Medical

Akron General’s 7100 Unit is a high acuity cardiac telemetry and med/surg unit. This fast-paced unit cares for patients who require extensive ADL assistance, high risk fall patients, and patients with pneumonia, FTT, weakness, confusion, sepsis, PEG care, central lines, multiple antibiotic therapies, blood transfusions, IV push/cardiac drip titration medications and tracheostomies.
A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM. Â
A caregiver who excels in this role will: Â
- Provide direct nursing care.Â
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a given patient population.Â
- Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately. Â
- Develop and update goals, involve patients and families in care and serve as a patient advocate. Â
- Provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication, and document. Â
- Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient / family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process.Â
- Delegate tasks, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification/licensure and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit. Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Â
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing Â
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)Â
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)Â
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â
- Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)Â

Physical Requirements:
- Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
- Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Physical Demand in excess of those for Light Work
