A Medical Assistant in this role is familiar with performing health screenings, collecting specimens, administering medication and reporting patient conditions. In this role, you will play an important role in the overall organization and functioning of the Primary Care unit. You will also perform numerous administrative activities, helping ensure your fellow caregivers, supervisors and physicians have the information and resources to improve patient safety, reduce errors and prioritize what matters most. These duties offer a unique opportunity to expand your management and other professional skills.Â
A caregiver in this position works from 8:00AM – 6:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will: Â
- Assist with performing screening and treatments by gathering information related to health maintenance, collecting specimens and documenting patient care.Â
- Update health maintenance at patient visits, accurately identify medication changes and update allergy information at each visit.Â
- Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition. Â
- Administer specific medications under direction of provider.Â
- Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting.Â
- Maintain examination areas.Â
- Assist in pre-visit planning by updating the health maintenance tab.Â
- Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Â
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting Program Â
- Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) consideredÂ
- Current demonstrated clinical proficiencyÂ
- Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience Â
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) within new hire periodÂ
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Â
- CMA, NCMA, CCMA certificationÂ
- Successful completion of Cleveland Clinic ExternshipÂ

Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment
- Extended periods of standing, walking or sitting
- Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision
- Light Work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
