The Sterile Processing Transport Assistant supports the Sterile Processing Department by transporting equipment and supplies to and from the surgical service department. In this role, you will collaborate directly with the CSP team and Surgical/OR team to facilitate unit organization, need management and instrumentation delivery. Without this essential and critical work, the surgery room could not function properly.
A caregiver in this position works evenings from 2:30PM — 11:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Deliver clean/sterile supplies to surgery.
- Return supplies back to Sterile Processing and restock sterile supplies in appropriate area.
- Transport Surgery case carts in a timely manner.
- Transport Soiled case carts from Surgery to Sterile Processing Decontam.
- Deliver supplies and Instruments to the Surgical Suites upon request.
- Pick up soiled items from ancillary departments as requested.
- Drop off clean items to ancillary departments as requested.
- Assist with Cleaning of Equipment.
- Demonstrate proper hand hygiene
- Follow Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
- Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- Critical thinking, multi-tasking and effective reading and writing skills

Physical Requirements:
- Working while standing, sitting, stooping and reaching for prolong periods of time
- Lifting instrumentation and linen packs weighing 25 pounds or more on a continual basis
- Manual dexterity sufficient to perform basic functions of position
- Pushing, pulling and navigating carts weighing up to 200 pounds
- Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination
