Responsibilities:
- Supervises the work activities of assigned proprietary security roles
- Acts as a senior officer in a security situation until relieved by the higher training officer in charge.
- Acts as a liaison with administration. Investigates complaints from various departments and prepares reports.
- Assigns and supervises of subordinate officers on an assigned shift or special detail.
- Interviews, hires orients and trains new security officers (armed and unarmed) and civilian personnel.
- Acts as a point of contact with local law enforcement agencies as required.
- Provides general security functions for hospital property at site-specific events, employees, patients and visitors.
- Maintains firearm qualification standards as set forth by the department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Certifications:
- Certification in Ohio Law Enforcement Training (OPOTA) or Federal Law Enforcement Training preferred.
- Completion of Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) private security firearms qualification certificate within one year of hire.
- Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license (VDL) and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate organizations vehicles for emergency purposes.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Must possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills required to prepare and evaluate reports, interface with employees and provide accurate feedback and testimony.Â
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years as a security officer (or similar in a related field)
- Minimum 3 years of FT experience as a security supervisor required
- Experience within a hospital security setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Meets the standards of the Basic Physical Fitness Standards upon hire and on an annual basis.
- Requires extensive walking, standing, sitting, talking, listening, and documenting when directing or investigating concerns/incidents.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $22.85
Maximum hourly: $34.85
