Fairview Hospital’s 5 North Innovation Unit is used to trial, evaluate and develop best practices in technology, nursing, interdisciplinary care and medicine. Teamwork and collaboration are cornerstones of this unit and are essential to the successful implementation of new interventions. This team is known for its ability to bring ideas, technology, and concepts together for caregivers and their patients. You will enjoy the open communication between caregivers and the leadership team, allowing ideas to be shared in a supportive work environment. Continuing education is a high priority, as is the unit-based shared governance group that meets monthly to evaluate practice issues and give a voice to the caregivers on the team.  Â
A caregiver in this position works 6:30AM – 7:00PM. Â
A caregiver who excels in this role will:Â Â

Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter. Â

Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN. Â

Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly. Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â Â

A high school diploma or GED. Â

Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). Â

Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.  Â
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period. Â

State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA).Â

Physical Requirements:

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
