Registered Nurse (RN) Ambulatory – TriageÂ

As an RN, you will support Cleveland Clinic’s primary care physician offices. You will take symptomatic calls from patients, guide them to either schedule an appointment, go to the Emergency Department or offer treatment at home.Â
A caregiver in this position works 8:00am – 5:00pm. This is a remote position, but you will be required to attend in-person training for approximately six weeks at the Mayes Center. You will also be expected to report to a Cleveland Clinic location within one hour if there are connectivity issues at home.  Â
A caregiver who excels in this role will:Â Â

Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting. Â

Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans. Â

Administer medications and treatments. Â

Initiate CPR and other emergency measures. Â

Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.Â

Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.Â

Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families. Â

Cover other nursing roles within the department. Â
-
Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â Â

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Â
-
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Â
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).Â

One year of recent experience as an RN. Â
-
Will consider LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience in substitution of RN experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area. Â
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â

Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). Â

Emergency Department and Epic experience. Â

Strong assessment, customer service and computer skills. Â

Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
- May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
- Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
- Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
