Research Technician II – Choi Lab

Innovative research and groundbreaking discoveries happen every day at Cleveland Clinic. The Younho Choi Lab studies the molecular mechanism of immunopathogenesis of emerging tick-borne viruses including severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus. 

A caregiver in this position works 8:00am – 5:00pm.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Perform laboratory techniques and procedures required for experimental studies.  

  • Perform technical lab duties.  

  • Schedule and perform various analyses.  

  • Assist with establishing and scheduling various procedures and analyses.  

  • Prepare reagents, purify chemicals, and identify, separate and quantify various substances. 

  • Conduct testing and procedures utilizing laboratory equipment and instrumentation. 

  • Accumulate data from analyses.  

  • Prepare charts, graphs, statistical tables, publications, grant proposals and applications for research forms.  

  • Complete six months of on-the-job training to become familiar with laboratory techniques, procedures and research protocols  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Knowledge of quantitative and statistical methods normally attained through completion of a bachelor's degree in a biological science major or a related field of study. 

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures, techniques, methods and analysis sufficient to perform a variety of research protocols.

  • A minimal amount of applicable experience may substitute the education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to distinguish color
  • Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20  pounds
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $18.88

Maximum hourly: $28.80

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education.
