Akron General’s 52B Orthopedic/Surgical Unit is a post-surgical unit that specializes in knee and hip replacements and shoulder, ankle and spinal surgeries. As an RN , you will be part of an inviting, welcoming and inclusive family of caregivers that is dedicated to forming long-lasting relationships while making a difference in the lives of patients. In this role, you will also have numerous opportunities to explore higher educational and professional resources.

 

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM.

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide nursing care based on patient-centered outcomes and standards of care based on current research and evidence-based practice. 
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.  
  • Safely administer patient care and treatments in accordance with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice and institutional policy. 
  • Safely administer medications in accordance with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice and institutional policy  
  • Involve the patient and family (or designee) in developing a plan of care individualized to patient cultural, religious and educational needs. 
  • Participate in on-going interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes and contribute to the improvement of care.    

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
  • Current Ohio licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Full range of body motion for handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
  • Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work

  • Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures
