RN – Clinical Decision Unit

Under the direction of the Director, you will be accountable for providing nursing care in accordance with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice / Ohio Administrative Code and Understanding Scopes of Practice / Ohio Board of Nursing and ANA Scope and Standards of Care. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for a given patient population within the established standards and practices of the unit.

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct nursing care. 
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a given patient population. 
  • Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.  
  • Develop and update goals, involve patients and families in care and serve as a patient advocate.  
  • Provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication, and document.  
  • Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient / family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process. 
  • Delegate tasks, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification/licensure and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing  
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
  • Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Physical Demand in excess of those for Light Work

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
