PRN Occupational Therapist (OT)

Occupational Therapists provide many wide-ranging services to diverse populations of patients who have been referred by a physician due to a problem with their inability to perform normal activities of daily living (ADLs). This may be due to a physical injury, emotional or developmental problems, a stroke, elective surgery, disease processes, aging or birth defects. Diagnoses often referred to occupational therapy include autism, head trauma, hand and upper extremity injuries/conditions, stroke (CVA), total hip/knee replacements, cerebral palsy, sensory integration deficits, depression, cancer, arthritis, and more. The goal of OT is to maximize the ability of each individual to perform self-care, work, and leisure activities to the best of their physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities. Ultimately, the goal is also to help people re-learn skills needed to live independent, productive, and satisfying lives.  

A caregiver in this position must have flexibility with work assignments and working weekends and holidays – this is a PRN position so no set hours or schedule. Hours normally between 8:00am – 4:30pm.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Evaluate and treat occupational therapy patients.  

  • Communicate to referral sources about patients’ initial condition, progress and discharge disposition.  

  • Complete patient related and non-patient related documentation in a timely manner. 

  • Delegate and supervise the patient care of COTA's, support staff and students. 

  • Market services to patients, referral sources and the public. 

  • Form and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients and caregivers. 

  • Effectively organize work assignments and time without compromising quality patient care while achieving maximum productivity and efficiency. 

  • Achieve personal and professional development through participation in continuing education, in-services, orientation programs and student programs. 

  • Maintain an orderly and safe work environment.  

  • Keep treatment areas and department clean and orderly. 

  • Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies, requirements, certification and/or licensure. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy.  

  • Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Ohio.  

  • Current CPR certification.  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Occupational therapy experience.  

  • Flexibility with work assignments and ability to work weekends and holidays.
