Research AHT caregivers monitor and care for the health and well-being of research animals at Cleveland Clinic and support foundational pre-clinical research that will one day improve the lives of patients around the world.
A caregiver in this position works days/evenings/nights/weekends from 6:00AM – 2:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform daily health observations and monitor the condition of research animals.
-
Provide custodial care, fresh feed and fresh water to animals.
-
Receive animal shipments and complete required documentation.
-
Ensure that areas used for technical procedures are well maintained and supplied.

Transport supplies, equipment and animals to and from various locations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High school diploma or GED.

Willing to be trained to properly handle all species of animals housed within the department.

Is flexible, as animal care is 24/7/365.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Has experience in custodial care of animals.

Physical Requirements:
-
Ability to lift and transport equipment and/or animals weighing up to 75 pounds using carts with casters.

Capable of tolerating a significant amount of standing, bending and walking.

May be required to work with biological, chemical and radiation hazards after proper training

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
