Lutheran Hospital’s 5D Unit cares for a variety of post-operative patients in the areas of orthopaedics, spine, neurology and bariatrics. Some procedures patients have undergone include total joint replacements, lumbar and/or cervical decompressions, fusions, and laminectomies. This unit also treats general med/surg patients and is capable of telemetry and ongoing cardiac monitoring. The exceptional care from the nursing team on this unit has led to a reputation for quick patient turnover and excellent patient education. This is an excellent opportunity for an RN to join a team that is active in shared governance, is involved in community outreach, and has created a highly engaged work environment.Â

A caregiver in this position works 9:30AM – 1:30PM. Â
A caregiver who excels in this role will:Â Â

Provide direct nursing care.Â

Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans. Â

Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions. Â

Serve as a primary coordinator for all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Â

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â Â

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. Â

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Â

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).Â

Internal candidates: one year of recent related nursing experience. Â

External candidates: two years of recent related nursing experience. Â

Physical Requirements:
- Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
