Cleveland Clinic Children's state-of-the-art Lerner School for Autism is a chartered, non-public day school certified by the state of Ohio. These caregivers serve autistic students from the age of earliest diagnosis through age 21. Licensed Special Educators, Behavior Analysts, Speech/Language Pathologists and Classroom Behavior Therapists have intensive training and experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Our core curriculum also encompasses parent training, observations and home visits, ensuring families feel involved as we care for their children. As a Behavior Technician on our team, you will implement personalized support plans for students, considering their unique needs, goals and preferences. This role offers an excellent way to enhance their independence, develop critical education skills and learn healthy ways to navigate an autism diagnosis.
A caregiver in this position works 8:00am—4:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Work under the clinical supervision of the Behavior Analyst to provide behavior-analytic services to multiple patients with autism spectrum disorder and related developmental disabilities in an outpatient setting.

Acquire baseline data and implement approved treatment plan using applied behavior analysis neutrally and consistently.
-
Implement discrete trial teaching procedures across a variety of patients and functioning levels.
-
Apply reinforcement procedures effectively, utilize SDs that are clear, concise and consistent.

Utilize prompt fading, shaping, and chaining procedures.
-
Assist Outpatient Behavior Analyst in conducting functional behavior assessments to include conducting a record review and Functional Assessment Interview, define behavior and choose appropriate method of data collection, summarize environment, setting events, and medical information.

Communicate effectively with parents regarding progress, troubleshoot, generalization strategies for home, and other elements of parent training as designated by Outpatient Behavior Analyst.

Participate in required supervision with Outpatient Behavior Analyst.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Associate’s Degree OR six months of ABA experience
-
40-hour coursework for Registered Behavior Technician Certification (RBT) before hire
-
Completion of an RBT competency assessment and exam within 30 days of hire OR BCBA or BCaBA Certification

Computer efficiency

Ability to work and build rapport with patients of diverse backgrounds
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Six months of experience working with autistic children, utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
