As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Working in conjunction with school nurse at JFK High School, you will provide top-quality patient care to diverse populations of patients under the direction of a registered nurse, physician, optometrist and/or podiatrist. An LPN in this role is familiar with performing patient care activities, documenting patient care, administering medication, observing patients’ health and maintaining/restocking medical equipment and supplies.
A caregiver in this role works days from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Collect and document objective and subjective data and observations about the patient.

Contribute observations and health information to the nursing assessment and report all data to the RN or authorized health care provider.

Implement the current plan of nursing care at the direction of the RN, or the medication or treatment authorized by the authorized directing health care provider.

Document and verbally communicate the patient’s response to the nursing plan of care, or the medication or treatment including observing patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.

Perform routine laboratory tests.

Contribute to the revision of the nursing plan of care

Provide education and information to patients and family members.
-
Maintain professional growth and development within nursing field.
-
Participate in the departmental orientation of new employees in a positive manner, share knowledge and experience.

Provide guidance when assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate of an approved school of Practical Nursing
-
Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

One year of patient care experience

Physical Requirements:

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good hand-eye coordination, involves extensive standing walking and occasional lifting.

Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.

Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
