Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital provides comprehensive surgical services for patients of all ages. As a Surgical Services Support Technician, you will help create a safe and sterile environment for surgical operations and other procedures. You will be exposed to the latest technologies, offering a unique opportunity to gain invaluable medical knowledge through hands-on experience.
A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00PM – 11:30PM, with on-call weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Safely transport patients to designated areas per nursing requests.
- Assist nursing caregivers during surgical cases as requested.
- Maintain and control support services equipment and supplies.
- Maintain the OR in an aesthetically safe and sanitary condition.
- Enter job tasks into electronic computer software systems.
- Assist in prepping and shaving patients for surgery.
- Coordinate and maintain uniform room activities, such as locker assignments and scrubs.
- Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
- Comply with special cleaning requests for radioactive waste and infection control surgical cases.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within new hire period
- One year of customer service experience

Physical Requirements:
- Full range of body motion to lift and/or bear the weight of 100 pounds with assistance or more while pulling, lifting, pushing and transferring patients to and from various apparatus
- Pushing moderate to heavy weights of 100 pounds or more
- Exposure to body fluids
- Availability for flexible scheduling according to the needs of the surgical area
- Potential floating within the surgical support department
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
