With a dedicated Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) and Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU), Martin North Hospital is considered the cardiac hub of Cleveland Clinic Martin Health.
Martin North Hospital’s 5NW Progressive Care Unit (PCU) provides compassionate care for post-operative vascular and thoracic patients, including the placement of chest tubes and arterial bypasses. As a Registered Nurse (RN) on this unit, you will provide direct nursing care to patients that have been stepped down from the ICU but still require a higher level of monitoring and care than a medical-surgical unit. Some of your primary duties will include implementing and monitoring patient care plans, assessing and coordinating patients’ discharge plans, administering prescribed medications and treatments and monitoring, recording and communicating patients’ condition.
This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working nights between 7:00 p.m. — 7:30 a.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols.

Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
-
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
-
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
-
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
-
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
-
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs with members of the healthcare team.

Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing
-
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
-
Critical Care Course or validated OJT for critical care settings
-
One year of current Acute Care RN experience OR military RN experience
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
