In this role, you will perform a variety of laboratory activities independently with minimal supervision at a moderate to high scientific complexity level and serve as a key support to operations and research customers. This position requires someone who can assist with large animal research support, including surgical needs, operating room and prep-room setup, and the performance of necessary procedures. The ideal candidate will also be capable of handling protocol development and contributing to the planning and execution of research studies. This role leads and participates in the training of other employees on proper procedures or SOPs, ensures maintenance of equipment, performs other related duties, and completes special projects as assigned.
A caregiver in this position works days, from 8:30am—5:00pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Demonstrate a consistent understanding of protocols and guiding principles and apply the protocols to experiments.

Conduct, evaluate experiment, assay, and/or other laboratory activities, and are assigned projects of moderate complexities.

May work with more senior mentors to learn and train on higher complexity activities.

Calculate, compile, and communicate results to the Core leadership or internal customer.

Perform quality assurance on all assigned activities per procedures or SOPs.

Perform intake functions for the laboratory such as logging of samples and service requests, and the dissemination of basic information to users (i.e., minimum requirements for services, costs, etc.).

Maintain established laboratory inventories, ordering materials as necessary.

Prepare and operate equipment for experiments, assays, measurements, etc.

Perform maintenance and minor equipment repairs, according to manufacturer and Core guidelines.

Clean and perform general maintenance on equipment, according to established protocols.

Execute and facilitate delivery of specialized services.

Interact with primarily with Core personnel but may have increasing interaction with Core users.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Associate's Degree in a relevant scientific field
-
Two years of experience
-
OR Bachelor's Degree may substitute for two years of experience
-
OR four years of directly related experience may substitute for the degree requirements
-
Certification in appropriate field may be required per department or core protocol within one year of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in large animal research related program
- Research Veterinary Tech License
- Project Management experience

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $20.77
Maximum hourly: $31.68
