As an Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician, you will work with medically to critically ill patients, providing essential diagnostic EKGs used in their treatment. In this role, you will be responsive to needs and discomfort, work independently to enhance the healthcare experience and offer continuous patient-centered care. A caregiver in this position works evenings from 10:30AM – 7:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Position and connect leads from electrocardiograph machine to electrodes on specified body areas.
- Review patients record and instruct patients prior to procedures.
- Monitor patient during procedures and report any abnormal findings.
- Identify and correct for wandering, interference and artifacts.
- Edit and forward results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
- Maintain EKG equipment and supplies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Six months of experience related to direct patient care or customer service OR completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Healthcare experience
- Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program
- EKG experience

Physical Requirements:
- Physical strength to assist patients into position for testing.
- Physical strength to transport equipment to various locations throughout the Cleveland Clinic facility.
- Extensive walking and standing.
