Certified CS/SPD Technicians are responsible for cleaning and maintaining surgical and hospital tools. In this position, you help ensure patients have the best possible healthcare experience by providing caregivers with safe and sterile equipment. You will gain new skills and knowledge, allowing you to explore advanced positions within the enterprise. A caregiver in this position works evenings from 12:30PM – 9:00PM
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
- Perform case pull functions.
- Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.
- Build case carts ensuring adherence to procedures.
- Dispatch case carts to ensure availability for surgical/clinical procedures.
- Perform record keeping, ordering, stocking and inventory control.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Sterile Processing Certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER)
- Two to five years of experience in central service/sterile processing areas
- Successful completion of a recognized training program with certification in Central Service/Sterile Processing
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F) or similar considered

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform duties while standing, sitting, stooping, and reaching for long periods of time; ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a continual basis; ability to push, pull, and navigate carts weighing up to 200 pounds and manual dexterity sufficient to perform the basic functions of the job; exposure to environments of bacterial and viral contamination, and possible exposure to sterilization gases.
