LPN- Allergy and Immunology

Our Department of Allergy and Immunology provides leading-edge care. We specialize in severe asthma, eczema, food allergies and difficult-to-treat conditions. As an LPN on this team, you will collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients, families and visitors. You will assist with medication management, patient monitoring, administrative tasks and more. All your work helps ensure the best possible health outcomes. A caregiver in this role works days from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide professional nursing care to patients.  

• Administer medication.  

• Maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date documentation in medical records and files.  

• Complete authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.   

• Implement pain management assessments and documentation.  

• Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.  

• Follow Code Blue protocol.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate of Accredited LPN program 

• Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification 

• Knowledge of infection control practices 

• Computer literacy 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

• One year of clinical experience 

• Previous allergy experience

Physical Requirements:

• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.

• May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.

• Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.

• Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.

• Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.

• Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
