The Electrophysiology Lab specializes in the treatment of patients with cardiac rhythm disorders. Typical procedures include pacemaker and ICD implantation, ablation of cardiac arrhythmias, left atrial appendage occlusion device implantation, cardioversions, and tilt table studies. The EP Lab uses cutting edge technology, including the use of a robotic magnetic navigation system to accommodate the intricate cases they see. World-class physicians attract a complex patient population in which the EP lab serves with excellent outcomes.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of the Heart & Vascular Center and the Manager of the EP Lab, RNs on this team work closely with physicians and the anesthesia team to provide professional nursing care for all patients. This role allows RNs to work within a small team caring for patients in an OR setting and have the ability to specialize in Electrophysiology. This team is very supportive of their professional development as cardiac nurses and provides a clear career path within industry.
