Akron General offers a wide range of surgical services. Whether patients require minimally invasive procedures or major surgeries, Akron General’s surgical teams provide patients with excellent care. As an Assistant Nurse Manager on the team, you will monitor the daily clinical operations of the Operating Room. You will oversee RNs, LPNs, MAs and other patient care providers to ensure patients receive the best professional nursing care possible.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 5:30AM – 3:00PM, including weekend coverage during the on-call rotation.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Support the nurse manager with the supervision of RN staff and other assigned nursing support personnel.

Interview, hire and train staff.

Provide input and feedback into performance evaluations and make personnel action recommendations (e.g. promotions, transfers, disciplinary, discharge).

Supervise admissions, conduct assessments of patient's needs and initiate nursing care plans.
-
Evaluate and document patient progress.
-
Facilitate the planning, implementation, development and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit.
-
Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
-
Serve as a liaison between the manager, staff and other areas within the organization.
-
Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services.
-
Prepare schedule of work assignments.
-
Participate in and supports quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.

Provide continuing education and in-service educational programs for caregivers.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
-
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
-
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
-
Two years of recent clinical nursing experience
-
Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Two years of Operating Room experience

Leadership experience
Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
