Cleveland Clinic’s Environmental Services Department is consistently ranked among the highest-performing EVS teams in healthcare. On this team, you will help create the comfortable and safe environment our patients have come to expect. As a Porter Waxer/Stripper, you will focus on project work such as stripping and refinishing resilient floors, wall washing, and all phases of carpet care. You will also clean and maintain assigned areas daily in accordance with standard Environmental Services policies and procedures.
A caregiver in this role works days from 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and prescribed methods.
-
Strip and finish resilient floors.
-
Complete work assignments received at the beginning of each shift from the supervisor.
-
Empty and reline wastebaskets with clean liners.
-
Clean inside and outside of wastebaskets before relining.
-
Tie bags around containers when necessary to prevent collapse into wastebaskets.
-
Transport trash from utility rooms and collection points to compactor chute or San-I-Pak.
-
Use designated carts to transport rubbish to waste stations.
-
Perform high and low dusting in assigned areas.
-
Wash ceilings, walls, lights, windows, vents and other surfaces.
-
Wipe horizontal surfaces with a damp cloth and germicidal solution.
-
Dry/dust mop floors and vacuum carpets.
-
Clean resilient floors using a wet mop and germicidal solution.
-
Maintain resilient floors using high-speed buffers, floor scrubbers and rotary machines.
-
Perform carpet maintenance through vacuuming, bonnet care and extraction.
-
Clean and polish all metal and porcelain fixtures.
-
Set up meeting rooms, special functions and relocate furniture as needed.

Replenish room supplies in assigned areas.

Observe and report the need for repairs to hospital equipment, furniture, buildings and fixtures to supervisor.

Understand proper usage, dilution and measurement of chemicals.

Assist in cleaning emergency situations as observed or requested, even outside assigned areas.

Participate in all scheduled in-service training sessions and hospital in-services.

Provide coverage for laundry workers on an as-needed basis.

Carry out assignments as given by the supervisor.
