Lutheran Hospital’s 3B Adult Psych Unit is one of two nursing units in the Acute Adult Behavioral Health Center that provides around the clock care for adult and older adult patients with behavioral, emotional and/or psychiatric disorders who require close supervision, ongoing assessment and/or intensive treatment to restore or maintain optimal functioning.

A caregiver in this position works days, from 7:00am—3:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform clerical, receptionist, communication, office supply procurement duties, tasks and related services under the direction and supervision of professional nursing caregivers.

Support the efficient functioning of the unit.

Accurately transcribe and process all orders.
-
Advise RNs of orders that require immediate attention.
-
Prepare, maintain and process all charts.
-
Refer specific questions to the appropriate health care professional.
-
Compile statistics, process memos and schedule diagnostics/appointments.
-
File/record mail.
-
Follow appropriate nursing services and hospital policies and procedures related to admissions, transfers, discharges, and expirations.
-
Handle all communications between nursing unit, physicians, and departments with accuracy, courtesy and confidentiality.
-
Complete errands efficiently.
-
Inventory, order and store supplies as directed.
-
Navigate facility computer systems (ADTR, computer order entry proficiency, charge entry, computerized medical records, etc.).

Provide efficient and effective use of telecommunication and information technology systems.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High school diploma/GED
-
Knowledge of medical terminology
-
Basic office equipment and computer skills.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Previous healthcare experience.

Medical assistant course and/or experience.
