G100 is a Gastroenterology and Hepatology unit that cares for patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases and pre-transplant patients. Common diagnoses that are treated on this unit include Crohn’s disease, colitis, gastroparesis, gastrointestinal bleeding, pancreatitis, liver failure, complex multi-organ failure, nausea and sepsis.
A caregiver in this position works 3-12 hr shifts per week, 7:00pm—7:30am with rotating weekends (partial).
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Lead and oversee daily clinical operations on the unit, ensuring smooth, high-quality care delivery.
- Provide direct, compassionate patient care while supporting clinical excellence at the bedside.
- Foster seamless communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and departments.
- Partner with Nurse Managers to evaluate and resolve complex patient care and operational challenges.
- Conduct ongoing performance evaluations, coach caregivers for professional growth, address performance concerns, and manage attendance.
- Interview, select and orient new caregivers.
- Develop and manage caregiver schedules to maintain optimal staffing coverage across all shifts.
- Drive continuous improvement by actively participating in quality initiatives, clinical outcome evaluations, and research efforts.
- Step in as acting Nurse Manager when needed, maintaining leadership continuity and unit excellence.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Two years of recent clinical nursing experience
- Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills
