Hillcrest Hospital’s 3rd Floor Complex Medical Care Unit provides medical, surgical, and telemetry nursing care to adult and geriatric inpatient and observation patients. This unit specializes in cardiac/post-catheterization, genitourinary, thoracic, vascular, renal, gastrointestinal, diabetes, respiratory disease, ostomy, and wound management.
As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care by interacting directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life-saving treatment. This position allows you to use your comprehensive skills and expertise to deliver outstanding care while providing you with numerous opportunities for professional growth and access to educational development courses to advance the Professional Ladder at Cleveland Clinic.
A caregiver in this position works variable shifts from 7:00 a.m. — 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- External applicants: two years of recent experience in an acute care setting
- Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
- Will consider military RN experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
