As a Laboratory Courier, you will perform daily, preventive maintenance of assigned vehicles and perform scheduled deliveries and pickups at all perimeter locations according to your established route and schedule. This position is here to assist the lab and move specimens as quickly as possible to provide patients with their test results.
A caregiver in this position works varying shifts, 7:00AM – 4:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform pickup and delivery of laboratory specimens to designated areas.

Use appropriate handling, storage and transportation methods.
-
Perform daily, preventive maintenance of an assigned vehicle.

Verify that delivery has been completed properly.
-
Ensure that all items are picked up and delivered, barcodes are scanned, and signatures are obtained.

Submit daily route sheets, accident reports, maintenance records and mileage reports.

Check all fluid levels daily and perform basic safety checks of mechanical operations.

Report any malfunctions and problems to the section leader for correction.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

A high school diploma or GED
-
Valid state driver’s license (VDL) and a good driving record

Obtain and maintain eligibility as determined by Cleveland Clinic’s insurance carrier’s requirements to operate foundation vehicles
-
Ability to work independently and organize and prioritize deliveries and pickups

Ability to read maps and follow directions
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

One year of experience as a courier

No points on the driver’s license

Knowledge of the area around Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus

Typical physical demands include full body motion including ability to lift and transport medium weight materials up to 100 lbs.

Ability to spend long hours driving and working in all weather conditions.
