Material Handlers are responsible for the replenishment of supplies, linens and materials to ensure caregivers have immediate access to the tools necessary to provide patient support. In this position, you have the opportunity to exhibit Cleveland Clinic’s mission and values, helping create an environment where everyone feels safe, comfortable, supported, and important.
A caregiver in this position works variable shifts, Monday-Friday.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Manage all phases of ordering, receiving, distribution and warehousing of essential departmental equipment and supplies.

Implement, manage, and maintain inventory systems to order, control and expedite inventory supplies to enhance the fiscal management of the department.

Schedule and coordinate the daily flow of activity for receiving.

Resolve shipping and receiving issues directly with the vendor or carriers.
-
Coordinate the receipt and storage of supplies on the dock and within bulk storage.

Perform administrative functions related to the department inventory control and distribution.

Produce monthly statistical reports, complete a physical inventory and perform cycle counts as required.

Participate in the planning and implementation of new procedures, policies and systems.

Maintain the proper and appropriate professional and ethical relationships with all vendor representatives and conduct business according to established principles and guidelines.

Complete six months on-the-job training to learn specialized surgery components, inventory systems and departmental policies and procedures
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High School Diploma or GED
-
Valid Driver’s License (VDL) with all of Cleveland Clinic insurance requirements

Two years of experience in inventory control functions with responsibility for par levels, purchasing functions, inventory analysis and usage trends OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh up to 50 pounds.

Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 800 pounds and pull a 2500-pound pallet using a manual pallet jack.

Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
