Founded in 1808, the City of Wooster is a wonderfully diverse place. We are surrounded by some of the region’s best farmland, but we are also home to several major industries. Wooster is also the county seat of Wayne County. As a prosperous, growing community we still take pride in our downtown shopping area, for which Main Street Wooster recently received national recognition with the Great American Main Street Award. Also, since 1979, Wooster has repeatedly been named Tree City USA.
