A caregiver in this position works day/evening/night/weekend, 5:30am—8:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Prepare quality food items in accordance with production sheets, recipes, and menus.

Operate kitchen equipment.
-
Prepare food on the grill, in ovens, or using an induction stove.
-
Prepare cold food items, vegetables, salad mixes, and sandwich spreads.
-
Selecting, measuring, grinding, slicing and mixing ingredients.
-
Assist the cook and nutrition assistants.
-
Assist in the assembly of food for final preparation.
-
Assemble, transport and pick up patient trays to and from patient rooms.
-
Assist in preparing, setting up, serving and cleaning up special dinners and luncheons.

Follow proper sanitation procedures to produce, maintain, and leave a clean, sanitized, and organized work area.

Practice proper food handling techniques and the “clean as you go” policy.

Organize supplies and food products.

Operate, load, and unload the dishwasher.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Can work in hot kitchens around hot equipment and a variety of other potential hazards ranging from spills on floors to sharp cutting equipment (knives, slicers, etc.)

Can withstand changes in work environment temperatures (hot kitchen to cooler)
-
An insensitivity to allergic reactions, as you will be around sanitation chemicals, gloves, food and supplies
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High school diploma or GED
-
Experience in food service OR the ability to perform general food service duties
