The 3 East Main Tower Medical/Surgical Unit sees a patient population with various conditions, such as heart failure, COPD, infections and GI bleeds. Due to a growing need to care for patients in these areas, we have recently expanded this unit. As an LPN on this team, you will have the opportunity to play an important role on a team that is impacting more patients each day, coordinating with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm treatment environment and provide bedside care.
This position offers the ability to pursue educational advancement, higher positions and skills development courses offered by Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you have an excellent opportunity to start your nursing career and work in a supportive and caring healthcare setting.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 7:30PM, with every other weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Collect and document objective and subjective data and observations about the patient.

Contribute observations and health information to the nursing assessment and report all data to the RN or authorized directing healthcare provider.

Implement the current plan of nursing care at the direction of the RN, or the medication or treatment authorized by the authorized directing healthcare provider.
-
Document and verbally communicate the patient’s response to the nursing plan of care or the medication or treatment including observing patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments and performing routine laboratory tests.

Contribute to the revision of the nursing plan of care.
-
Provide education and information to patients and family members.
-
Participate in the departmental orientation of new employees in a positive manner, share knowledge, experiences, and provide guidance when assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing Program
-
Current Ohio licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
-
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) within one year of hire
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.

Involves extensive standing and walking.

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
