Using sophisticated equipment in the Molecular Morphology Lab, you will work alongside Histotechnologists and Pathologists as you print, label and package slides appropriately. Your efforts are essential in providing physicians with critical information they need to diagnose and treat patients. Additionally, Cleveland Clinic will provide you with ample opportunities to enhance your skills and establish an exciting path in Laboratory Sciences.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 3:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Receive and accession laboratory specimens into the LIS.
- Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens.
- Perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems.
- Verify accurate documentation relative to specimen processing.
- Maintain patient, specimen and tracking data using the laboratory computer system, tracking and software/devices.
- Prepare specimens for analysis and accept or reject specimens.
- Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED and one year of lab experience OR Associate's Degree in Science
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Associate's Degree

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform specimen handling techniques and take measurements.
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Ability to move throughout the department and hospital system.
- Handles and transports biohazardous materials and potential carcinogens.
- Ability to differentiate color, hue, saturation, and tones.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
