As a Medical Access Pharmacy Technician, you will focus on assisting patients with charts and medication adherence/maintenance. You will collaborate with fellow Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians to address patient concerns and issues regarding noncompliance. This position is very unique, serving as an executive level role due to the impact on finance and care. As needed, you will rotate to Main Campus to cover weekends, offering another way to refine your skills across locations. Your efforts will ultimately make a significant difference in the lives of patients across the Cleveland Clinic system.
A caregiver in this position works rotating days/evenings from 8:00AM – 6:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Communicate directly with patients and caregivers while performing technical functions within the assigned work area to ensure timely and accurate procurement of prescriptions and documentation within the electronic medical record when required.
- Identify potential medication-related access problems and work with patients and the multi-disciplinary team to solve these problems in an efficient and patient-centered manner.
- Coordinate education, bedside medication delivery, and medication payment.
- Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a seamless medication-related procurement process for patients.
- Work with the pharmacy leadership teams to identify areas of opportunity for improved patient experience.
- Assist manager in creating, implementing and monitoring quality control programs in assigned area.
- Conduct third party prior authorization requests when needed.
- Monitor program performance, including patient volumes served and patient experience indicators, serving as a valued resource to identify discharge prescription coverage issues and assist in their resolution.
- Complete medication histories or other transitional care activities as assigned per location.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
- Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy upon hire OR Pharmacy Technician Trainee with agreement of updating registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the OBOP within six months of hire

Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
