As a Child Life Team Lead, you will provide clinical oversight and support for the Child Life Program. You will assist with everything from student evaluations, continuing education development, program implementation, volunteer direction and enterprise-wide collaboration. While on the job, you may float between various hospitals, including the Fairview, Hillcrest, Strongsville, Beachwood and Westlake locations. A caregiver in this position works day shift hours
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide clinical oversight, evaluation and continuing development of the Child Life Specialist and Child Life Program.
- Assist with timekeeping and ensuring coverage
- Assist with updating child life policy and procedures.
- Advocate for the needs of the department and organization.
- Maintain inventory control and supply.
- Encourage and participate in fundraising and special events for the program and organization.
- Collaborate with Development Office/Public Affairs/Public Relations.
- Collaborate with the organization’s art, music and pet therapy and volunteer programs.
- Oversee programs for Child Life students.
- Collaborate with organization management in evaluating and improving the quality of services provided to pediatric patients and families.
- Participate with multidisciplinary family centered care committees within the organization.
- Act as a role model and leader in the Child Life field and management within the organization.
- Identify own learning needs and those of the Child Life Staff.
- Assess and document patient developmental level, emotional state, understanding of hospitalization and procedures.
- Implement programming, volunteer direction and collaboration with other members of the Healthcare team.
- Provides education, preparation and therapeutic intervention for medical events to help children and families cope and enhance understanding of hospital system and resources.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Child Development or a related field
- Masters Degree Preferred
- Current and maintained Professional Child Life Specialist Certification (CCLS) through the Child Life Council
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Four years of experience as a Certified Child Life Specialist
- Experience as a Child Life specialist with leadership responsibilities
