A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Be responsible for the safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments, equipment distribution and case care management.

Perform case pull functions.
-
Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.
-
Dispatch case carts to ensure they are available for surgical/clinical procedures.

Perform recordkeeping functions, such as processing, sterilization, quality assurance and more.

Order and stock supplies.

Maintain adequate levels and inventory of supplies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High school diploma or GED.
-
Sterile processing distribution certification (CRCST) by IAHCSMM/HSPA or CBSPD.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

One year of experience in central service/sterile processing areas.

Successful completion of a recognized training program with certification in central service/sterile processing.

Physical Requirements:
- Lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull and navigate supply carts weighing >than 75 pounds.
