As LPN Ambulatory Team Lead at the Internal Medicine Center of Akron (IMCA), you will utilize your nursing and administrative skills to support a fast-paced Residency Program. You will collaborate with Care Coordinators on managing daily operations, maintaining quality care, ensuring efficiency and helping mold the careers of future physicians and nurses. Ultimately, all your tireless efforts directly impact the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers across the hospital 

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:30AM – 5:00PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Collect and document objective and subjective data and observations about the patient. 
  • Contribute observations and health information to the nursing assessment and report all data to the RN or authorized directing health care provider. 
  • Implement the current plan of nursing care at the direction of the RN or the medication or treatment authorized by the authorized directing health care provider. 
  • Document and verbally communicate patient response to the nursing plan of care or the medication or treatment, including observing patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments and performing routine laboratory tests. 
  • Participate in the departmental orientation of new caregivers in a positive manner, share knowledge and experiences, provide guidance when assigned and provide feedback to nursing leadership.   
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, patient safety and HIPAA requirements and share information with other team members. 
  • Assume a lead role in quality initiatives and process improvement to improve patient outcomes, patient experience and patient safety. 
  • Provide feedback to nursing leadership or designee on Outpatient Clinical Care Assistants, Medical Assistants and LPNs for new hire, midyear and annual reviews. 
  • Coordinate staffing with an RN or designee to ensure coverage in clinical areas including off shifts and holidays.   

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Practical Nursing 
  • Current demonstrated clinical proficiency 
  • Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within new hire period 
  • Three years of recent clinical experience as an LPN

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good hand-eye coordination, involves extensive standing, walking and occasional lifting.          
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.         
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.       
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.              
  • Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  
  • Physical requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.    

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
