As a Physical Therapist, you will utilize various treatments to help patients increase strength, range of motion, endurance, and coordination. Because this position requires close physical interaction, you have the unique opportunity to develop strong patient relationships. Often, your patients are dealing with pain, so sensitivity is essential. In this role, you will also have many continuing education, mentorship and shadowing opportunities.
A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:00AM – 7:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Evaluate and treat physical therapy patients.
- Provide communication to referral sources about patient’s initial condition, progress and discharge disposition.
- Complete patient-related and non-patient related documentation.
- Delegate and supervise the patient care of PTAs, support staff and students.
- Achieve personal and professional development through participating in continuing education, in-services, orientation programs and student programs.
- Market services to patients, referral sources and the public.
- Organize work assignments and time.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy
- Current state Physical Therapist licensure
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Previous experience treating orthopaedically involved patients
