The Nursing Operations Manager (NOM) serves as the responsible supervisor in any of the hospitals in the Cleveland Clinic Martin Health System for circumstances that require immediate response, resolution or referral. In collaboration with the hospital’s leadership team, the Nursing Operations Manager will use their clinical knowledge, critical thinking and communication skills, and ability to expertly manage multiple circumstances to provide solutions for complex situations. In addition, the Nursing Operations Manager oversees patient throughput and bed management in the hospitals.
The hours of this per diem position are 12-hour flexible shifts, rotating between 7am-7:30pm and 7pm-7:30am. A minimum of 48 hours per six-week schedule is required. Flexibility to work at Tradition, Martin North, and Martin South Hospitals is required.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Serve as Administrator on-site and responsible agent for any circumstances requiring immediate response, resolution, or referral.
- Initiate, prioritize, and resolve situations that impact patient care delivery, the safety of patients, visitors, and employees through collaboration with departments.
- Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to insure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
- Monitor and adhere to annual hospital operating budget.
- Approve or monitor expenditures, purchases, and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
Required qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- BSN from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Minimum one year of Nursing Operations Manager (NOM) or Nursing Supervisor experience in an Acute Care hospital is strongly preferred. In lieu of NOM experience, a minimum of one year of Assistant Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse RN experience in an Acute Care hospital would be required.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire.
- Strong interpersonal skills required, including conflict resolution, communication, and leadership.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Master's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
