The Central Monitoring Unit (CMU) at the Cleveland Clinic Administrative Campus allows caregivers to remotely monitor patients 24/7, helping enhance care and health outcomes. As A Cardiac Monitor Nursing Technician on this team, you play a critical role in ensuring patients have access to the medical services as needed, especially during emergencies. You will promptly alert nursing staff of any alerts or alarms, helping facilitate effective intervention and safety protocols. This position offers a unique way to directly improve the Cleveland Clinic experience, develop new skills and pursue advanced opportunities within an innovative healthcare setting.
A caregiver in this position works rotating days/nights from 6:30AM – 7:00PM or 6:30PM – 7:00AM, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform ongoing surveillance of patients’ cardiac monitors, cardiac rhythm and vital signs.

Notify nursing caregivers of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that could impact the patient’s condition.

Interpret patient’s cardiac rhythm and document in the patient’s electronic medical record.

Answer the telephone and communicate clearly when receiving and delivering information.

Orient and mentor new caregivers and serve as a training and troubleshooting resource for the CMU and nursing units.

Provide reports for the oncoming shift.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High school diploma or GED.
-
Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities through successful completion of a formal training program in Allied Health or a healthcare field

Patient care experience in a hospital, nursing home or healthcare field
-
Completion of EKG/Cardiac Monitoring course
-
EKG certification or equivalent
-
Experience as a Monitor Technician, Medical Assistant, Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA), EKG Technician, or EMT
-
Demonstrated skill in recognizing abnormal cardiac rhythms

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in a fast paced environment under moderate pressure, multi-task with accuracy to keep track of a large number of patients and requires long periods of sitting and watching a computer monitors.

Visual acuity for observing cardiac monitor data.
