Cleveland Clinic Children’s Center for Pediatric Behavioral Health – Pediatric/Child Psychologist

Cleveland Clinic, one of the world’s most distinguished academic medical centers and ranked by U.S. News & World Report, announces a search for FOUR Pediatric/Child Psychologists in our growing Center for Pediatric Behavioral Health.

The psychologist would have an opportunity to focus in one or more of the following areas:

  • Pediatric Gastroenterology: This outpatient position will collaborate with our Pediatric Gastroenterology team to provide psychological care, such as individual, family, and/or group therapy, biofeedback, program development, and community services, for children with a range of GI conditions, including: Irritable Bowel Syndrome, abdominal pain, functional constipation, colorectal motility, encopresis/enuresis, liver disease, and ARFID. Additional opportunity to specialize in another area of interest is supported.

  • Gender:This position will collaborate with existing staff psychologists and healthcare providers within the LGBTQ and Transgender clinics to advance the care of LGBTQ+ youth and their families.  In this position, the pediatric psychologist will conduct readiness assessments for a range of gender affirming interventions consistent with WPATH Standards of Care and provide individual, family, and group psychological interventions.  Preference will be given to applicants who have experience working within an interdisciplinary gender team, especially if the candidate has WPATH SOC certification (mentoring may be available). There are opportunities for program development, training and education for a wide range of audiences (employees, medical staff, residents/fellows), and engagement with the larger community around LGBTQ+ youth and their needs.

  • Depression and Related Mood Disorders:This position will collaborate with Psychiatry and Primary Care to develop and implement multiple service lines related to assessment and treatment of mood disorders along the continuum. Opportunities exist to provide specialized care at various levels of symptom severity.  Mid-career experience is preferred to help further develop service lines, including a Suicide Prevention Program, and to lead clinical teams.  This position also will assist with providing and coordinating care at Main Campus and in the region.

  • Outpatient Child Psychology: This position will develop and implement multiple service lines related to the wide range of psychological conditions that present across our region, but most often anxiety and related disorders, depression and related disorder, and disruptive behavior disorders. Treatments will include in-person, virtual, and group therapies. This position will work within a team of psychologists and master’s level clinicians to successfully manage care within one of the many regions that the Cleveland Clinic serves. Additional opportunity to specialize in another area of interest is supported.

  • Integrated Primary Care:  This position will support our growing IPC service line, expanding the team to additional Primary Care locations throughout our region. The provider will work with a team of psychologists and clinicians who are interdisciplinary members of Primary Care clinics providing services to a panel of more than 35,000 pediatric patients. The IPC team works together to use a sustainable model of integrated pediatric primary care within the enterprise that provides better care for children in their communities, appreciates structural and environmental factors that contribute to problems, and educates all caregivers on behavioral health and mental wellness. This position will supervise and lead a small group of midlevel providers in Integrated Primary Care, offering warm hand-offs, brief screening/assessment and triage, brief outpatient treatment, and targeted group treatment for behavior management. Opportunities to develop one’s clinical specialty also exist.

  • Neuropsychologist/Testing Psychologist:  This position will expand our existing psychological testing group by taking an active role in our Neurodevelopmental Support Program. A primary goal of this multidisciplinary team is to effectively monitor and manage children diagnosed with a pediatric chronic disease affecting neurocognitive functioning in order to maximize their long-term outcomes. Experience with multiple tests of neurocognitive and psychosocial functioning is essential to practice, including but not limited to tests of cognitive ability, achievement, executive functioning, memory, motor skills, emotional/behavioral functioning, and social functioning. ABPP certification in neuropsychology is preferred but all candidates with strong testing experience will be considered.

Each of the above positions also offers opportunities in program development and implementation, and opportunities for teaching learners from a variety of health disciplines. Staff may also participate in our Psychology Fellowship Program and our APA-accredited Psychology Residency Program.
