Cleveland Clinic’s new Neurological Institute building, a one-million-square-foot, 15-floor, state-of-the-art facility located on Main Campus in Cleveland, will help advance neurological care by making it easier to treat conditions such as:

• Brain tumors
• Complex spine injuries
• Epileptic seizures
• Neuromuscular disorders
• Strokes

Whether receiving outpatient care or as a patient in surgery, stepdown, ICU or epilepsy monitoring, patients can experience the comfort of all care under one roof, with designated floors and spaces for each stage of care.

The Neurological Institute building is truly a next generation structure. Space, features and accommodations in the building were designed with input from caregivers and patients. All patient rooms are private, and all care is provided in one building.

The building will feature:

• 210 flexible, modular inpatient rooms (to be expanded to 300)
• 120 outpatient exam rooms
• 36 neurological ICU beds
• 14 operating rooms

In addition, the building’s design will employ modern technological features to gather data and maximize caregiver-patient interactions. For instance, upon entering the building, patients will encounter the gait and balance module; the complex figure drawing module, which measures their cognition and upper extremity function; and the voice pattern analysis module. Each of these features allow for patient assessment to begin the care process at the very start.

For patients, amenities include extensive natural light as a healing element, intuitive wayfinding, and easy access to therapy. Caregivers will enjoy dedicated decompression spaces, video technology to monitor patients, and a “touchdown” space with computers between every two rooms on inpatient floors.
