As a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, you will support the Ophthalmologist by performing various clinical and administrative tasks throughout the department. Your primary location is Streetsboro Regional Eye but will float to any five locations within Cole Eye: Marymount, Solon, Stow-Falls, Streetsboro and Willoughby Hills as needed. You will assist with direct patient care as directed, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and at ease throughout their appointment and exam. In this role, your ability to facilitate a welcoming environment can make a difference in the lives of Cleveland Clinic patients every day.
A caregiver in this role works day shifts varying between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Receive and prepare patients for examination or treatment.

Perform clinical and technical ophthalmic duties for high acuity patient populations, including those admitted to the hospital and/or with critical patient care needs.

Perform routine screening tests as needed.

Document patient information in the patient medical record.

Perform stocking, maintenance and other duties, including maintaining exam rooms, equipment and supplies.

Train patients to insert and remove contact lenses.

Perform visual field testing.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High School Diploma/GED
-
Knowledge of medical terminology
-
One year of experience in an ophthalmic setting providing direct patient care OR formal education or training in Ophthalmology

Knowledge of ophthalmic sub-specialties and testing procedures
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Experience with fundus photography, IOL Master and contact lens patient training

Physical Requirements:

Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.

Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
