As a Research Database Administrator, being a caregiver starts in the office, where you will manage and support the Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL, Open Source database and Application Servers. In this role, you will perform all aspects of system management for multiple research projects and registries, such as conducting upgrades, patches/updates and database tuning to maintain stable and secure operations environment. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Assist with application migration/upgrades to the Oracle and Microsoft SQL environment and other data loads (ETL) in support of research projects.
- Design and control DBMS operational procedures and support (including data modeling, replication, administration, maintenance, performance monitoring, optimization, capacity/capital planning, space management and recovery).
- Maintain and support the operations of the databases in test, training and production environments in cooperation with Project Leads, Analysts and Programmers as required.
- Perform all aspects of database system management for multiple research projects and registries.
- Tune databases for efficiency, and manage scalability demands as required.
- Supports transition of current applications to the Oracle 10c environment.
- Ensure database systems management, including installations, configuration, cloning, backups/restores/reorganization, tune performance, upgrades and patches/updates.
- Design and control DBMA operational procedures and support, including data modeling, database design, replication, administration, maintenance, performance monitoring, optimization, capacity/capital planning, space management and recovery.
- Assist with system/network configuration planning and adjustments to maintain efficient and cost-effective operations.
- Assist in system operational support to maintain the stability of live systems, which may include being on-call evenings or weekends to handle emergencies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field and four years of experience as a DBA with one year of experience in Oracle OR six years as a DBA with one year in Oracle OR Master's Degree in Computer Science
- Working knowledge and skills of Linux and Windows
- Experience as a Microsoft SQL database administration and experience with open source databases
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Experience with database architecture design supporting a research environment
- Experience in configuration and management of Oracle Forms and Reports, Oracle 19c, Weblogic 12c, Oracle Enterprise Manager tool, Oracle APEX application and user administration, Linux shell scripts, Oracle RMAN database backup software, database patching using Opatch and Oracle-specific knowledge (e.g., Fine Grain Access, Materialized Views, Data Pump Utility, Synonyms, DB link, SQL Loader)
- Oracle DBA 19c Certiifcation

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $33.46
Maximum hourly: $51.03
