Cleveland Clinic’s J3-1 Coronary Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides care to patients with medical problems such as heart failure, myocardial infarction, aneurysms and other acute and chronic cardiac diagnosis. These patients sometimes present with cardiogenic shock or are in their final phases of life.
A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00AM—4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Manage the operation and practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.

Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.
-
Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
-
Supervise caregivers and promote development.
-
Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
-
Coordinate unit operations with other units/departments.
-
Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes.
-
Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.
-
Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.
-
Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
-
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
-
Three years of recent clinical nursing experience including at least one year of healthcare management experience
-
High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area
-
Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye and hand coordination.

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
