As a Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician, you play a key role in how our operating rooms care for patients. Collaborating with the Manager, Lead Tech, Charge Tech and other Techs, you will ensure the organization and proper maintenance of a high-volume Sterile Processing Unit. In this role, you will receive ample support, training and education, including knowledge of operating the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and sterilization tools and concepts.
A caregiver in this position works evenings/nights from 3:00PM — 11:30PM and 11:00PM – 7:30AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
- Provide case cart management.
- Understand proper handling of equipment, instrumentation and chemicals.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Observe personal protective equipment standards in the decontamination process.
- Scan, sort, inspect and assemble instruments by instrument list and wrap and label as documented in the procedure.
- Perform recordkeeping.
- Build case carts using electronic preference cards and dispatch them to appropriate locations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Sterile Processing Distribution Certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) within 18 months of hire
- Three years of office experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- One year of Healthcare experience or a similar background in Mechanical/Manufacturing Assembly
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F) or similar considered
